You may have noticed in the Blog post about the City Weekly Beerfest having "unlimited Pours".
This is not a typo. The people at City Weekly did some research and found that could do a beerfest without tickets and tokens.

I've alway known that Utah's liquor laws were poorly written, but damn! All these new discoveries in the wording of the laws is starting to make my head spin.

Any thoughts?

Yeah this is all very confusing. When I first read that post, I assumed that this was some little noticed side effect of the new laws last year. Is this stuff that's been on the books for a while and we're just now getting legal opinions on it?

Is it time for us to start lobbying for the GABF to come to town? Very Happy

These appear to have been on the books for a while. Hard to say how long. Apparently no one has ever bothered to look closely at them - or notice that wine, liquor and heavy beer are all the same in the eyes of the state.

I have a feeling our overlords will see these technicalities and come up with legislation to squash them.

These new loopholes that are pretty awesome, however, I keep feeling like a kid whose been grounded for seeing my girlfriend. They lock my door from the outside, so I get out through the window. After they discover the window they board it shut. After the window I get out through the laundry chute and then my parents fill it razor wire. I just hope they let us keep this "Heavy beer is like liquor and like wine" thing.

I had nothing better to do with my time that day. We're lucky I stopped when I did.
